ELK POINT RECREATION BOARD

The Recreation Board was established in 1968 by the town of Elk Point. The purpose of this board to implement and pursue a recreation program for the town of Elk Point. The board consisted of five members serving without pay. who were appointed by resolution of the council.

Inaugural meeting of the first board was held at the F.G. Miller High School on September 6. 1968. Officer elected: Chairman, Ray Hellquist; Vice Chairman, Des Berghofer; Secretary, Ed Pankiw; William Milholland and Oron Davis. council representatives.

Initially, the board circulated survey forms to town and district residents to determine what programs should be implemented. Interest was indicated in minor hockey, Ukrainian language, physical fitness, and dressmaking: programs in these were started.
