This group came to a booming area of Alberta. In 1919 and 1920 rumors abounded the Edmonton St Paul CN line would be extended to Saskatchewan and Elk Point would be the divisional point. Many speculated that a railroad line from Cold Lake to Vermilion would also be built. None came but each year until the Great Depression of 1929 optimism prevailed. New land was also available and land salesmen took many new groups out to look over land and move families moved in. Primarily it was farming, mostly with horses but also with the odd tractor heard of as well as threshing crews. The Roaring Twenties meant many good times and great optimism amid much work starting a new country from scratch.
