Elk Point Curling Club Re-opening 1984

1984 11 28 Congratulations curlers

Congratulations to the Elk Point Curling Club on the re-opening of their totally revamped facility last Saturday.

A fire such as that which gutted the club’s premises last August would have devastated a less determined group, but within days of the tragedy, the curling Club was at work on plans for the rebuilding.

The renovated building has improved washroom facilities, a more convenient kitchen which may be totally closed off when not in use, and a very handsome lounge area upstairs.

1984 Curling Club reopens

That this could all be accomplished in such a short time shows not only the dedication and hard working ability of the Curling Club members who removed the burned material and debris prior to the new construction and painted the finished product, but the efficiency and organizational ability of new local contractor Wallace Briand, for whom this is the first major project.

It is truly an accomplishment that both volunteers and contracted help can be proud of.
