MARGARET CHAMBERLAIN
by Angus McLean
Margaret Chamberlain, mother of May Chamberlain Bergstrom and Guy Chamberlain, came to the Elk Point area in 1915 or 1916. She was a very ambitious lady for the times and established her trading post in a tent on the outskirts of town. She sold many trinkets, feathers, hats, etc., to the early settlers and to the Indians in the area.
