Some homesteaders arrived in the Elk Point area before Alberta became a province but the number increased with the birth of the province, the arrival of the railroad to Vermilion in 1905 and various promotions by the railway companies intent on developing a market for their transport. Most of our homesteaders were those pioneers who settled here before 1922.

We recently discovered an alphabetical listing of Elk Point area homesteaders created in the early 1970s by some EPHS members which was not ever used in the publication. The 24 page PDF below has the entire alphabetical listing and the pages in the menu have one page at a time.
The photo below will help those who may have forgotten how the original Dominion Land Survey worked across much of Canada.
