BUILDING the CNR in 1927
We are looking for interested first person accounts of how the building of the railway happened and how it affected the community. We have some accounts here on the website and we seek to expand those.
The Elk Point Historical Society's Trail group is helping the County of St Paul oversee the improvement of the Iron Horse Trail from Elk Point to Heinsburg. We plan to put up signage along the route, develope some historical signage and develop some campsite / picnic sites. We hope to work with the Heinsburg Historical Group to support their efforts in developing their Historical Railway site.
Of particular interest are photos of the building of the railway. As well, problems faced by the builders are of interest. Opinions on how the railway affected development of the country are also of interest.
