UNITED GRAIN GROWERS
ELK POINT ALBERTA
The original elevator was built in 1927. Mr. Eugene McDonell was the first elevator manager in Elk Point. In 1962 United Grain Growers bought McCabe grain company. On February 7, 1972, I, Wm. Marceniuk took over as manager. In 1977 we handled about 320,000 bu. of grain and we shipped 143 box cars.
We sell fertilizer, we have fertilizer spreaders and barber spreaders for Avedex and Treflon granulars. As well we sell all feeds and concentrates. Right now we have handled 5500 metric tons of grain. On February 1, 1978 all grain measurements changed to metric units. Presently I have a local helper, Paul Ewasiuk.
