Elk Point and Area Governments
The region around Elk Point has had governing bodies since the Rupert's land was acquired from the Hudson Bay Company by the country of Canada. The first governments were Territorial Councils. At the formation of Alberta as a province, the area around Elk Point soon had a Federal Government representative, a Provinicial government representative and as the town and rural areas developed town and municipal government arrived. In addition to leaders and board members for each governments many government departments effected village life.
In this section we look at all levels of government as well as their departments like the post office, the law enforcement, and other agencies set up by government to build life as we know it.
