LAW AND ORDER IN THE ELK POINT DISTRICT

Early law and order to the district came with the arrival of the NWMP in 1885. Some of these men settled in the district. (See Robert Chandler)
With the formation of towns and municipal governments some local constables were hired. Later the Alberta Provincial Police were formed.
This policing gave way to town policemen and the RCMP.
